Cambridge Who's Who Names Kenneth C. Sands, MD, Professional of the Year in Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Sands has improved the lives of others through hip and joint surgery

MELBOURNE, FL, December 7, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kenneth Sands, a Haelth First Physician and Surgeon at Viera Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Orthopedic Surgery. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Attributing his success to his love for working with others and treating patients, Dr. Sands works as a surgeon at Viera Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Eight years of experience have helped him establish an expertise in full-joint replacement, hip resurfacing, direct anterior hip replacement and partial knee replacements. As a physician, he displays great passion and empathy while treating both pre- and postoperative patients. He also travels frequently to different states to lecture on the topic of hip resurfacing and pain management with total joint replacement. Prior to working with Viera Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Dr. Sands practiced medicine at the Harbin Clinic and Floyd Medical Center in northwest Georgia, where he was the first surgeon to perform the Birmingham hip resurfacing procedure in Georgia.
Holding an MD from Tulane University, Dr. Sands completed a fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute.

Previously, he earned a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Duke University. A well-recognized professional within his field, he is the former director of the Center of Excellence in Total Joint Replacement at Floyd Medical Center, and is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In the future, Dr. Sands hopes to continue growing professionally and would like to found a nonprofit organization to help to serve financially challenged individuals suffering from severe arthritic conditions.
