Dr. Mueller has 26 years of professional experience, and has served for the past two years as the chief operating officer for the Thrombosis Research Institute, an independent charitable foundation based in London, UK. In this capacity, Dr. Mueller oversees the conception and implementation of clinical trials on a global level and handles planning of publications and research related communications. She is an expert in pre- and post-approval clinical development, medical affairs, health economics and business operations. After earning an MD in Munich, Germany, Dr. Mueller began her career by practicing cardiology and internal medicine for four years. In 1989, she joined the pharmaceutical industry, in which she remained for 20 years. She has held global leadership roles in multi-national pharmaceutical companies and was responsible for strategic clinical planning, medical affairs, health economics, business planning and operations.
When Dr. Mueller got into medicine, she was fascinated by the challenge of persisting research questions and the purpose of delivering and improving patient care. Her roles in the pharmaceutical environment allowed her to support and accelerate the implementation of new scientific insights and innovative therapies into clinical practice. She credits her success to the passion for what she doing, her commitment to operational excellence and the support and motivation she gives to others; she believes that the most gratifying individual success is team success.
Dr. Mueller holds memberships to the European Society of Cardiology, the International Society of Thrombosis & Haemostasis, and the American Heart Association. Dr. Mueller looks forward to continuing to do innovative research within an evolving global health care environment.
